WHAT DOES IP67 STAND FOR?
IP stands for ingress protection and 67 indicates its IP rating. An IP rating of 67 means your electronics enclosure is protected from total dust ingress and can survive submersion in 1m of water for up to half an hour. This also means you’re protected from water spray and heavy water jets.
Basically, thermoplastic material with an IP rating of 67 can produce an almost entirely waterproof enclosure that can withstand all the pressures of an industrial environment. It’s lightweight, manoeuvrable and has relatively low maintenance costs.
While not quite as strong as it’s stainless steel counterparts, polycarbonate and ABS plastics still have a very high impact-resistance. In addition, any dents or bumps are not as noticeable in plastic as they would be with steel or aluminium enclosures.
